Danielle Derisse

Filmmaker, Actor, and Writer in San Francisco, California

Grew up in Boston with my head in the clouds and my face glued to the screen. The first movie I ever saw on the big screen was Ang Lee's Hulk in 2003. My dad sneaked me into a screening before after school. Before that, my Catholic upbringing limited my movie-going experience to the living room. Film is more than just a hobby to me. It's how I tell my story. It's my escape. It is a powerful and ever evolving media. I'm sure I wasn't the only kid with a dream. And I want to be sure I'm not the last. When I'm not bouncing all over town with 60 lb. of camera gear or downing double espresso shots, I am a part-time child caretaker in the Castro. You can also find me snapping photos of random strangers in the city for my new personal photoblog. My current project is a short film titled Nurture.
