Danielle Bruns

As a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Novato, California, Danielle Bruns contributes a great deal to the youth of the local community. With a strong focus on learning through community, Danielle Bruns maintains the highest instructive standards in her work, engaging young minds in a proactive manner.

Over the course of the past decade, Danielle Bruns lent her teaching expertise to the church’s Free-to-Be Program. Established in 1992 by a small group of volunteers, Free-to-Be strives to instill high self-esteem in children and adolescents, preparing them for a happy, healthy, and successful future. In her work with Free-to-Be students, Danielle Bruns discussed a wide array of topics, including setting goals for the future, responding positively to pressure, forming healthy relationships, setting boundaries, and making thoughtful decisions. Danielle Bruns’ involvement with Free-to-Be provided her with a great deal of satisfaction, also giving her the opportunity to connect with a subset of students outside of a traditional classroom environment.

In conjunction with her duties at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Danielle Bruns maintains a non-parochial role as an educator in California’s public school system. In the recent past, Danielle Bruns employed her skills as a Social Science Teacher at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California, Novato High School in Novato, California, and Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, California. Today, Danielle Bruns devotes her time and energy to the student body at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California, leading classes in the History of Women and Social Change, United States History pre and post 1877, and Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in American History.
