Danielle Dean
Digital Media, Broadcasting, and Social Media in Cincinnati, Ohio
For the past four years, Dani has excelled as a broadcast journalist who specialized in digital media and sports management. Her passion for storytelling and her upbeat attitude bring a fresh perspective to sports journalism.
At Ohio University, Dani, a recent graduate, was active with the WOUB Center for Public Media sports department, both on and away from the camera. This year Dani hosted the Emmy-winning high school football highlights and feature show, Gridiron Glory. She was also a lead reporter for three Emmy-winning sports television shows. Dani goes beyond just covering a game or rivalry. She is dedicated to finding and bringing you the story within every game, team and community. Her journalistic skills are versatile. She can turn out live highlight calls and analysis, produce long-form packages, film games, interviews and press conferences, go live from the sidelines, host a television show, mentor younger students in ENPS, Final Cut, Adobe Premiere and serve as a social media personality.
Dani was Local 12 WKRC's Sports Intern the summer of 2016. She assisted the sports anchors and producers with the production of the nightly sportscasts. While interning she completed over 20 stand-ups in the field, produced multiple packages alongside reporters, wrote scripts, edited video and make graphics. Dani conducted in-studio, locker room, sideline and press conference interviews with professional and collegiate athletes and coaches. She also got the opportunity to enhance the station's full coverage of "Pete Rose Weekend" by posting to their social media and assisting with interviews of the 1979 Reds World Series Championship team.
In addition, she enjoys writing, specifically profile and feature stories. Dani is a writer for SB Nation's WNBA site, Swish Appeal. She covers live WNBA games remotely, and had the opportunity to cover the Los Angeles Sparks vs. Indiana Fever live in Indianapolis.
Dani has interned at WLWT Channel 5 in Cincinnati. While there, she worked alongside some of the most talented sports anchors, reporters and photographers in the business, helping to cover pro and college sports.
Dani loves all sports, but she aspires to one day cover the NFL. Along the way, she wants to be a sponge: soaking up knowledge and always being in search of more. Dani, a vibrant representation of the future generation of women in sports media, exemplifies humility, integrity and intellectual curiosity.
