Danielle Gunderson

I am currently a senior studying Special Education at Longwood University. I have a passion for students of all abilities and ages. I am coming into the field of education with the dedication to change lives for the better. I believe in the difference education can make and that one teacher's persistence and patience can change a student's life.

For my senior writing seminar I was asked to make a difference in education in the way of my choosing. My first thought was to create a way of improving upon the transitioning process from high school to post graduation work or schooling for people with special needs. I watched a very dear friend of mine struggle with this process and I wanted to come up with some way to decrease that struggle. I believe in the potential of all people therefore, my objective is to put that potential into motion to create a productive, successful future for all students. I plan to make this future more accessible through the sharing of information and networking between parents searching for opportunities for their children.
