Danielle Shubsda
Student and Musician in Syracuse, New York
I am a junior studying Music Industry with Vocal Performance Honors at Syracuse University. Some ensembles I am involved in at SU are University Singers and Hendrick's Chapel Choir. This year I am the Vice President of Membership for Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity on campus.
Much of my passion for music derives from my early interest in Broadway shows. When I was 6, my parents took me to see "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway. Since then I have returned to Broadway to see numerous shows. Most recently, I saw "Come From Away" over this past summer.
My music taste is an eclectic mix. I have a place in my heart for all things Broadway, but I also enjoy other genres such as Classical, French Pop, and Rock. One of my favorite artists is Paul McCartney. I love his music from his days in the Beatles all the way to the music he is releasing this year in 2018. Some other artists I also love are Bernadette Peters, Billy Joel, Vance Joy, Demi Lovato, and Lady Gaga.
I also have a large array of interests outside of music. These interests span from baking to hiking. I love to cook homemade meals and discover new recipes as well as continue to use family recipes that have been passed down to me. Another thing I enjoy doing is to draw and create designs. I consider myself a creative person and look to apply my creativity in my everyday life as much as I can. I am also very interested in fashion. I like to watch trends and see how styles have evolved over time, including my own personal style.
One of my favorite things to do is travel and explore places. To me, a great part about traveling is the opportunity to visit museums. I enjoy learning about history and different cultures. In May I traveled to Mexico for the first time and it was a beautiful experience that I am extremely grateful for. I go to New York City a couple times a year and always get to do something new there. I thrive on being able to get out of my normal routine and have a change of scenery. Being in a new or different city for me is like having a breath of energy and I love it. I hope to travel more in the future.
