Danielle Stephens

Director, Writer, and Mother in Greater Bay Area, CA

Hi, I'm Danielle (Dee) Stephens, a communications leader, mom, stroke survivor, storyteller, advocate, and lifelong believer in the power of community.

For more than 25 years, I've helped organizations connect people to purpose through internal communications, employee engagement, executive communications, and large-scale events. I love bringing structure to complex challenges, creating meaningful employee experiences, and building the systems that help teams thrive.

My perspective was forever changed when I suffered a massive stroke at 30 weeks pregnant with twins. What followed was a journey of recovery, resilience, and rediscovery, not just for me, but for my two incredible children, who have each faced their own challenges. It's a story I'm still writing, one chapter at a time, and one that has deepened my empathy, strengthened my resilience, and shaped the leader I am today.

In my free time, I use my voice to support women navigating caregiving, advocate for medical equity and disability inclusion, and share stories that remind people they are never alone. Whether I'm leading communications for global organizations, speaking on stage, writing about life's unexpected turns, or building communities like Bay Area Buzz, I believe belonging changes lives. Community carried my family through our hardest moments, and it inspires me to create spaces where others feel seen, supported, and connected.

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me cheering on my twins, volunteering, exploring the Bay Area with my golden retriever, Fenway, or writing the next chapter of our family's story.
