DANIEL NDUNGU MAINA
TOURISM, Writer, and Chef in Nairobi
My name is Daniel Ndungu Maina. I’m a chef who simply loves food and the craft behind it. Cooking started for me in a very natural way, just making meals for family and enjoying the feeling of seeing people happy after eating something I prepared. Over time that simple interest grew into a real passion and eventually became my profession.
I studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at Pwani University, which helped me understand that hospitality is really about people. Food is important, but the real heart of it is creating a warm experience where people feel welcome and taken care of.
One thing that matters deeply to me is helping people. Whether it’s through hospitality, sharing a meal, or contributing to my community, I believe small acts of service can make a real difference in someone’s day. Being able to support and uplift others is something I truly value.
Outside the kitchen, I’m someone who enjoys the simple things that keep life balanced. I love art and drawing because they give me a quiet way to express myself. I also enjoy long walks, where I can clear my mind and think about ideas, life, and where I’m heading.
I’m passionate about growing, learning new skills, and becoming better at what I do.
I believe when you care deeply about something and stay consistent, you can build a life that truly reflects who you are.
