As Senior Director and Supervisory Investment Officer at the US Department of Energy, Daniel Tobin holds responsibility for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating the credit risks of energy infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on renewable energy and climate change mitigation infrastructure projects. Concurrent to his role as Senior Director, Daniel Tobin has served as lead project finance board member for the U.S. Army Energy Initiatives Task Force, and was instrumental in qualifying project developers for up to $7 billion worth of renewable energy power purchase agreements from the Department of Defense.

Daniel Tobin earned his undergraduate degree in Geography and Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo. After graduating in 1997, he worked for a year for the US Geological Survey as a geographic information systems specialist identifying active mines. In 1999, he became the technical programs manager for the Water Environment Federation, where he focused on the creation of sustainable development strategies for the water systems of rapidly growing urban centers internationally. Moving to Post, Buckley, Schuh and Jernigan in 2002, he took the position of environmental and urban planner, responsible for working alongside regional development organizations to negotiate new projects in the Washington, DC, area including army and coast guard installations.

Daniel Tobin returned to school in 2004, earning a master’s in energy and environmental policy from the University of Delaware. Since his graduation in 2006, he has worked in various capacities for the Department of Energy.
