Dannielle Thomas
Dannielle Thomas was born in the south, and has roots in that tradition. However, traveling and living abroad has opened her mind, and allowed her to see the beauty and responsibility that her own country possesses. Her motto is "live locally but think globally." She lives out of a suitcase most of the time (always ready for the next adventure), but knows that she has a greater purpose to the world. A current graduate student in Media Advocacy and Media Management at the New School for Public Engagement in New York, Dannielle strives for success and improvement. With a professional background in social media, marketing, development, and grassroots' organizing, Dannielle hopes to achieve a career in media strategy and management. She is dedicated to the causes of women's rights, preventing child abuse and neglect, HIV/AIDS and sexual health awareness, youth empowerment, food and environmental sustainability. Her work as Development and Media Outreach Associate, and previously as a community mobilization volunteer in West Africa in the Peace Corps, are invaluable assets and show her ability to fight for peace, justice, education, and equality.
When she is not-so-serious she loves watching and analyzing films. Her favorite genres are drama, sci-fi, and horror. She sometimes wishes she lived in the era of Hitchcock, and not-so-secretely wants to meet Scorsese. Her other passions include being a Whovian, a news-junkie, and foodie. Friends and conversation keep her sane and she will gladly share her favorite recipes, or her insights into Kubrick, over a bottle of wine anytime.
