Danny Fogarty
Syracuse, NY
My name is Danny Fogarty. I'm 19 years old and I am currently a Sophomore in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. I was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Hampshire and although I love it there, coming to school here in Syracuse was the best decision I've ever made.
I intend to major in Marketing and I am exploring the possibility of a double major in Finance. In my Freshman year my interest in Marketing was very broad, however, after I spent some time this summer touring and meeting with professionals at firms like John Hancock and Putnam, I developed an interest in Investment Marketing, and intend to pursue that.
I've taken many steps and been awarded several opportunities to broaden my horizons, networking and developing some experience. These include:
- Becoming an active member of the SU Investment Club.
- Joining the American Marketing Association.
- Joining Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
- Becoming the Social Media Chair/Alumni Relations Chair of Delta Tau Delta.
- Being designated as a Whitman Leadership Scholar.
- Maintaining two summer jobs.
- Touring John Hancock and Putnam and meeting with professionals to discuss career paths and gain valuable insight.
These steps are all important, but I intend to make many more this year and in the following years. Some of my present goals include:
- Getting my Bloomberg certification.
- Getting Basic and Expert Microsoft Excel certifications.
- Becoming an investment club Research Analyst.
- Getting involved at some level of the new Whitman entrepreneurship venture "Consurtio Inc."
- Joining the Whitman School Social Media team.
- Becoming philanthropy chair of Delta Tau Delta.
- Volunteering my services to inner-city schools.
- Obtaining a meaningful internship.
All of these goals are ones that I believe I can achieve by the time my junior year comes around at which time I will set my sights on whatever opportunities arise next.
I am firmly intent on becoming as well-rounded and experienced as possible so that wherever I end up working, I am able to contribute in a meaningful way and reach my full potential.
