Daniel Oostra

Dan is the technical lead for MY NASA DATA, which means that he is responsible for developing and maintaining the Web site you visit! Dan is also responsible for creating new applications, tools and software products to improve the MY NASA DATA experience. Dan has a degree in information science, and began working with website design and development in 1997. He is United States Air Force veteran, where he worked with satellite ground systems and control. Recently, Dan has developed a new mobile application for MY NASA DATA, and published a social media site to support NASA A-train activities. He is also working on improving the MY NASA DATA site. Dan enjoys the opportunity to innovate and develop new digital products for the team. He also enjoys working with NASA Earth science data and thinking of new ways for the public to interact with the data that NASA collects. When Dan isn’t playing with technology at work, he is playing with technology at home! He enjoys digital and film photography (and he even has a darkroom!), developing mobile apps, golfing, shooting sporting clays, mountain biking, cooking and making beef jerky.
