Dan Sparks SG Capital
Dan Sparks capitalizes on more than two decades of professional experience in the investment industry as a founding partner of Shelter Growth Capital Partners. In this role, he implements a distinctive investment process that incorporates risk management techniques while searching for opportunities that match client objectives. Dan Sparks works closely with all clients to identify goals and develop a focused plan for achieving them and earning strong risk-adjusted returns. Before joining the SGCP team, Mr. Sparks owned and managed DLS Advisors, which he founded in 2008. At DLS, he gained significant experience working across a wide range of investments, including equities and equity derivatives, real estate, mortgages, and fixed-income securities.
Prior to establishing DLS, Dan Sparks worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co, where his roles included partner and managing director. His work at the firm focused primarily on the Fixed-Income Division, and he headed the Mortgage Department. He belonged to several firm-wide committees, including the Risk Committee and the Structured Products Capital Committee.
Outside of his professional responsibilities with SGCP, Mr. Sparks remains actively involved with his community through several organizations. He has provided support to the 12th Man Foundation, an athletic booster club for Texas A&M University, where he earned his bachelor of business administration in finance and accounting. He is also involved with local sports and has sat on the boards of the New Canaan Winter Club and New Canaan Youth Football. In addition, he has coached local soccer, baseball, and softball teams. In 2008, the Texas A&M University College of Business named him an Outstanding Alumnus. i
