Dan Weil

Hi there! My name is Dan. So far I have had quite a full life. I just completed my student teaching experience through Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri to be a special education teacher. I have applied for my full teacher certification through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and am now looking for a job. I have been studying education at Columbia College since 2007, and have found teaching to be the most rewarding job. Making connections with students of all ages is what teaching and learning is all about. I would love to hear from you if your school district is looking for a learning specialist. I would, however consider relocating.

I believe that for students to succeed in school today, it is important that teachers find ways to successfully relate to them. Going beyond basic teaching methods and thinking outside the box is key in making connections with students.

Prior Career

Before I was inspired to become a teacher, I was on a career path to be a broadcast journalist. I interned at KSDK NewsChannel 5 in Saint Louis, and eventually landed a job at KMIZ-TV (ABC17) in Columbia, Missouri. I became a newscast director there. I left there to take a job at KRCG-TV 13 (CBS), which is another local broadcast station in the same media market. At KRCG, I was hired as a director to primarily direct a new hour long morning news program from its conception. I also had responsibilities for other newscasts, as well as in commercial production.

My Interest in Google+

Beginning in June 2011, I became involved in a project with my friend +Sarah Hill. At the time, Sarah worked at KOMU-TV 8 as a news anchor. She eventually integrated Google+ Hangouts into KOMU's local news programming, creating a 2-way television format. I was part of a group of original Beta testers who helped pioneer this new technology.

I maintain a presence on Google+, and will always be available to help journalists integrate Hangouts or other video chat technology into their newscasts. If you would like to talk - Feel free to email me, direct message me, post to my profile, or fly a paper airplane note to me, and I will be happy to visit with you about what I know.
