Hi, my name is Danya. I was born in Dubai and moved to Toronto when I was four. I currently live in Markham Ontario with my mother and two sisters. I am currently a student at the University of Guelph pursuing a degree in Biological Science. I joined the College of Biological science because earlier I was not sure about what field I wanted to go into. However, after my time at UofG and the various courses I have taken here, I have distinguished my interests. The field of biology that I am most interested in is biomedical science, health care and public health. This interest led me to become interested in perusing a career in public health and health care administration. I became extremely interested in health care administration over the summer, when I volunteered in a hospital and worked closely with administration and practitioners. There is an entirely different side of healthcare that is unknown.

I am inspired by Ada Lovelace, who might not be in the science field but made a huge impact in history being the first computer programmer. I am also inspired by Rosalind Franklin, who made a significant impact on today's understanding of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal, and graphite. I am inspired by these women because they worked incredibly hard in a predominantly male industry.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading and exercising. The book I am currently reading is Think Like a MonkBy Jay Shetty (I highly recommend it). Due to the pandemic, I have recently made a gym in my basement which I love spending time in. I like to focus on weight training and increasing my overall strength. This is when I get to listen to my favourite music too! Most nights, I also do yoga and meditate with my family which is a huge part of our culture. This is something my mother has always made a priority for us throughout my life.

Many people don’t know that I am extremely interested in sustainable living, as I do my best to shop sustainably and I have recently become vegan! I try my best to get my friends and family to make better sustainable choices when it comes to clothes and fashion.
