Daran Rumbal

A dancer from the age of two, Daran Rumbal now commands a thriving performance career. His mother served as an internationally noted teacher, adjudicator, and chorographer of dance, while his brother acted as a principal with the New Zealand Ballet. Mr. Rumbal later joined his uncle and other brothers as they traveled throughout New Zealand in a performing group. Trained in New Zealand, Daran Rumbal boasts years of professional experience in such roles as magician, clown, dancer, fire-eater, disk jockey, and musician. He also works as a director and choreographer, and ranks as a popular lecturer, teacher, and international dance competition adjudicator. Appearing regularly on Australian, New Zealand, and British television, radio, and cabaret programs, Mr. Rumbal boasts a fan base spanning multiple continents. In addition to his impressive performance career, Daran Rumbal also owns and operates Rock City Music, an entertainment supply store he founded in 1994. Daran Rumbal operates principally from Alice Springs, located in the Northern Territory of Australia. Along with his many performance activities, he maintains a variety of creative leadership and mentorship roles. Mr. Rumbal has functioned as a lecturer through St. Phillip’s College in Australia, and now teaches through his own popular workshops. A renowned choreographer, Daran Rumbal has produced a wide range of shows designed for all skill levels. He commands a unique creative style and has developed entirely original productions as well as corporate events for companies like Harley-Davidson and Westfield Shopping Centers. As a director, Mr. Rumbal has executed numerous stage presentations, as well as a host of theatre, musical, and various festival events. Daran Rumbal has received several accolades for his ongoing accomplishments, winning the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand and New Zealand National Tap Dancing championships, as well as New Zealand Television’s national Search for a Star Competition. The first male dancer ever to earn a Cutelli Ballet Scholarship, he also secured a Hamilton Medical Laboratory Scholarship while still a student. More recently, Daran Rumbal was named Teacher of the Year at St. Philip’s College following two years as head of the Drama and Dance Department.
