Dariel Fernandez is a community leader devoted to serving Miami-Dade County residents. Born in Güines and raised in Madruga—a small town near Havana—he grew up attending the Catholic Church, where he embraced conservative values and learned the importance of family. Early on, he helped support his mother financially, which instilled in him a strong work ethic that would shape his future.

Passionate about technology, Dariel pursued higher education in Cuba, earning an associate degree in electrical technology after four years of study. In 2002, he emigrated to the United States to escape Cuba’s oppressive communist regime. Arriving in Miami-Dade County, he embraced the land of opportunity, working multiple jobs to support his family and build a new life.

By 2004, Dariel joined Radio Paz 830AM, a Catholic Christian radio station in South Florida. Soon, he hosted his own television show on Mega TV, "Compartiendo Contigo," connecting with community concerns and local issues. His dedication paved the way for him to launch Ponemus Group in 2015—a boutique firm specializing in marketing, consulting, and technology software development designed to empower small businesses.

In Miami-Dade, Dariel built a loving family with his wife, Carolina. Together they are raising two daughters, Elizabeth and Anastasia, instilling in them values of love, respect, and hard work. His gratitude for the freedoms offered in the United States has inspired him to volunteer with numerous charitable and professional organizations. He serves on the boards of the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, La Salle Educational Center, and the Monseñor Felipe Bello Foundation, and is President of the International Movement “Somos Mas.” He has also contributed to Miami-Dade’s Cryptocurrency Task Force and the local Republican Party’s Executive Committee.

Dariel proudly serves in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, promoting boating safety and supporting search and rescue missions. His efforts were recognized in 2022 when he was named "Man of the Year" by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. On November 5, 2024, he was elected Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, becoming the first Cuban-American to hold this office in 67 years. Guided by his deep faith and commitment to community, Dariel remains dedicated to modernizing public services and championing the American dream for all.
