Darien Behravan

A pain management specialist who conquered his own chronic pain symptoms, Darien Behravan is the founder and Head Physician of the Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute. Darien Behravan is the Associate Producer of a chronic pain documentary series, the first of its kind. The series intends to educate those who are struggling with pain issues, and each short documentary focuses on one aspect of chronic pain.

As a student, Darien Hooman Behravan obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from the University of Maryland. Throughout his college years, Darien Hooman Behravan was named to the Phi Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta, as well as many other reputable student associations. Darien Behravan received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and he studied at the Department of Pain and Spine Medicine at Stanford University. He is also associate clinical Professor at Touro University school of medicine where he is involved in training of medical students.

The Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute, which is located at 13690 East 14th Street in San Leandro, California, is a multidisciplinary medical office that focuses on pain management of chronic and acute pain. Darien Behravan performs interventional spinal injections and minimally invasive spinal surgery at the Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute. His approach to pain management, both firsthand and as a medical professional, includes alternative and holistic methods like yoga, deep breathing, mindfulness, and cognitive therapy for a full spectrum of treatment.

While Darien Behravan sits on the advisory board for pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer Inc., Cephalon, Inc., and King Pharmaceuticals, Inc., he is invited to speak as a guest lecturer at workshops and conferences regularly. His pain management practice, community service efforts as a volunteer for community health awareness, and involvement with a chronic pain documentary series take up most of Darien Behravan’s time in San Francisco, California. He is also an avid tennis player and enjoys snow boarding.
