Darrell Shulman was born on March 6, 1968 in Johannesburg, South Africa and came to Toronto, Canada as a young boy with his family, parents Vic and Hilda Shulman, younger sister Natalie and younger brother, Jonathan. He grew up in Thornhill, ON and attended Thornlea high school. He then went to York University from 1987 to 1990 where be obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. In the year following, 1991, Darrell opened his first business, specializing in providing process and packaging equipment, custom machinery, and formulation testing for product development and regulation.

Him and his wife Amanda were married in 1994 and have 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. After winning $25,000 from a scratch and win ticket, they bought their first house in Thornhill and have stayed in the area since then.

Darrell is very active in his children’s lives. He was a volunteer chaperone at Snowhawks Ski & Snowboard School in Toronto for 8 years a soccer coach for his daughter's team in Thornhill. His daughters currently attend university in Ontario.

In his free time he enjoys skiing, working out, spending time with his family. He is now 51 years old.
