Darren Hartman Kennedy
Darren Hartman Kennedy began working for Maplewood Comprehensive High School in the spring of 2011. Before working for Maplewood Comprehensive High School, Mr. Kennedy served as the Transition Specialist for the district as well as a Uniformed Police Officer for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Kennedy began his career teaching 3 grade at Bangs Avenue School in Asbury Park, New Jersey while serving as the Asbury Park Middle School Basketball Head Coach. Kennedy is an international certified instructor for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, conducts Gang Awareness Trainings in multiple states and has implemented School Wide Positive Behavior Support in over ten schools ranging from Pre-K -12.
Mr. Kennedy earned his bachelor of arts in journalism from Howard University, where he earned a full ride athletic scholarship for basketball. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Tennessee State University.
