The easy thing to do upon getting knocked down is to stay down. The hardest thing to do is to get back up, one foot in front of the other moving forward and become bigger and stronger from it. This is the message that Darren shares so eloquently as an Inspirational Speaker. His keynotes have left audiences in tears and pains in their sides from laughter. Darren was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Aug.5, 2003 at the age of 34. The prognosis for his cancer was 71% chance of getting him in remission and a 64% chance of a relapse after the first year of his 2 years straight of treatments. Darren had been facing adversity for the better part of his youth as he was the youngest of 4 boys and always one of the smallest amongst his peers. He was always determined to prove that he belonged and could play with the "big boys" just as well as they could. This determination proved to be a definite strong quality as he not only made every team that he tried out for, but was always in the top 5 on these teams. It is because of this iron will that it helped him face all of his life experiences with a very competitive edge and he sure needed this edge in his battle with cancer. During his 2 years in treatments he was an inpatient for the first 5 months, received over 600 chemotherapy treatments, 2 weeks of brain radiation, a trip to reverse isolation due to a fever of 106.5 and blood pressure that dropped to 52/32 ( he never should have survived this) and over 34 blood and platelet transfusions into him. On Aug. 5, 2013 Darren and his wife Jaylene will celebrate his 8 year post treatments cancerversary. People ask him all the time, " how did you get through that" and his answer is simple - giving up was never an option. His post cancer life has been incredible - Darren published let's Talk about it. inspiring stories from young adult cancer survivors in Jan. 2010. This is an anthology from 40 young adults that were diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15-45. He is a certified empowerment coach, an in demand inspirational speaker, internet radio show host of the empowering Let's Talk About It Radio Show with Darren Neuberger every Tuesday evening on Blog Talk Radio and he dabbles in stand up comedy. His best qualities are in helping organizations, companies and groups incorporate change, inspire motivation and transition in a way that leaves everybody thinking about what they can do to continue to move forward in a positive way in their lives
