Daniel A Ramirez - Suarez

Los Angeles, California, United States

The Heartfelt:

For the past fifteen years I've been creating advocacy content, television, and branded documentaries. I ran the gamut - working for big and small agencies, clients, TV networks and organizations. But my passion for scripted content, art, commercial direction, and photography, were mostly stifled. DARSWORK is my artist moniker, made up of all my initials (Daniel Alejandro Ramirez - Suarez). These names encompass my middle eastern and latino heritage, and passions I've largely also ignored but I'm now ready to set free. I'm looking forward to 2016 where I will put on a performance art exhibition, a photo show, and complete my first narrative short film.

The Old Pedigree:Over the last fifteen years, DAN RAMIREZ has filmed, developed and produced content for ABC, NBC, PBS, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, VICE, ESPN and NatGeo, including shows from Law and Order to Ice Road Truckers. After working on back to back Emmy-nominated productions (PBS's History Detectives, ESPN's Muhammed Ali three-part series documentary, and Ice Road Trucker's), Dan then set his sights on documentary film and advertising, and went on to build content for American Express Open Business Forum, Ford, Cell South (winner of two Cannes Lions), Mun2, Subway and bands like Monsters of Folk, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. As a documentarian and filmmaker, Dan has contributed on several stories for the Guardian UK newspaper, including breaking coverage of the WikiLeaks reportage, and has photographed for the likes of Travel & Leisure and varied literary publishing houses. Dan spent three years as Creative Director of the social justice advocacy media organization, NMAP: New Media Advocacy Project, where his work garnered MacArthur and Ford Foundation grants. He would go on to found his own transmedia production house, Burgeon Media.
