DARYL PAYNTER
BALLARAT
I was facing 147 charges for break and enters and drug related crime. I’d being arrested the night before and put in a detox unit to come down off of amphetamines after holding up a doctor’s surgery with a knife. I was committed by the doctor and at that point the police were not allowed to touch me as I was under Government protection. Knowing what was a head of me, that I would go to jail, or wind up on a slab in a morgue or put someone else there. In that hospital ward I finally surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and invited Him to be my Lord and Saviour. After a week of coming down off of the speed l was discharged I was expecting the police to arrest me at any time. The hospital gave me a prescription for Valium to help me come down. As I was walking out of the grounds of the hospital pondering on what I was going to do I prayed and ask God saying “what do you want me to do?” I heard very clearly from Him” hand yourself in” I didn’t question Him about it, I was obedient. I had decided to put my whole trust in Him. I had to walk a distance to the train and had no money on me so I was fully expecting to be arrested at anytime for fare evasion but I was able to make my way to the Police Station that was investigating the crimes. I had made it to the other side of the road from the Police Station. By this time my heart was pounding in my chest, knowing full well that I could be charged and remanded in custody that day. I walked across the busy road and to the bottom of the steps. Then boldness came upon me and walked up inside. The Police Station was an old weather board building which is no longer there. I arrived at the front counter with my arms up in the air and I said “I am the guy you've being looking for in regards to the crime in this area”. The uniform police called two plain clothes detectives who came and took me out the back into the interview room.. I was wondering if I’d walk out the front doors today. They sat me down and with that went out the door I had confessed to all the crimes I had being involved. While they were out the door I was praying and I said the Lord “this is where the rubber hits the road and if you don’t help me now my life is as good as over”. Within a few minutes the two detectives walked back in and stood me up and said to me “ You are free to go, We don’t want you” I was a free man. God had delivered me.. God had intervened and set me free. I had a God encounter with that day…. God is no respecter of
