Daryl Julie Rothman
College student Daryl Julie Rothman began acting in plays and operas at age 11, serving as a cast member for 3 straight seasons in the Princeton-based McCarter Theatre Center’s production of “A Christmas Carol.” Currently enrolled at the University of Hartford, Ms. Rothman expects to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an Undergraduate Diploma in Music by 2012. With her degree and diploma in hand, she plans to pursue her passion for performing arts at the professional level.
Prior to attending college, Daryl J. Rothman honed her acting skills at summer camps and pre-college programs. Throughout much of high school she participated in The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, where she trained under voice instructor Lorraine Nubar and earned a certificate in classical voice in 2007. Ms. Rothman also spent two summers working as a counselor and drama instructor at the Arts Council of Princeton Summer Arts and Drama Camp. Her duties included organizing improvisational drama games and teaching acting fundamentals to young children. As a teen and preteen, Daryl J. Rothman also participated in the Westminster Choir Summer Camp voice program and the Paper Mill Playhouse Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory.
Beginning her senior year at the University of Hartford’s College of Arts and Sciences and The Hartt School, Daryl J. Rothman balances her demanding coursework with professional and philanthropic engagements. On campus, Ms. Rothman has worked in The Hartt School’s Admissions Office and, more recently, served as a Residential Assistant and Mentor Resident Assistant. Beginning in the fall of 2011, she plans to work in the University’s Office of Student Life, where she will help organize campus-wide events. Daryl J. Rothman’s charitable activities include partaking in on-campus advocacy and prevention programs, like the Tunnel of Oppression, and donating her time and resources to such organizations as Kids-for-Kids New Jersey and Passaic County court appointed special advocates (CASA).
