Devi
Jakarta, Indonesia
I have been in love with words and stories ever since I learned how to read, which, by the way—being a fast learner—I learned in one night (ask my mom). To this day, I cannot go to sleep without reading first, even after a night of drinking.
Indonesian is my mother tongue.
I am practical but can be whimsical and impulsive—an idealistic realist and a sloppy perfectionist.
I don't like people who drop names or brag. So stop it. You're not impressing me.
I am a listener, so you can always talk to me. I thrive on people's stories. I think people who don't listen miss out a lot in life.
Out of 100 percent, I always set aside 65 percent for disappointment (told you I'm realistic). This makes me stronger and more able to face failure.
I am basically a happy person, you wouldn't think that sometimes by reading my stories, but I am, but I do get bouts of sadness, though they soon pass.
I'm also in love with meditation. I consider it my other lover sometimes, one that is not as demanding as writing.
I'm picky when it comes to people I like, but I do fall in love with people: people who make me laugh, people who make me think, people who are real and make a difference in their lives.
I don't take myself too seriously, though I consider myself a serious person.
