As of June 2015, I have an M.A. in Religious Studies, with a focus on religion and politics, from the University of Chicago's Divinity School. My research during this program centered on the relationship between religion and patriotism, American civil religion, and religio-political rhetoric in the public square.
In 2012, I received my B.A. in Religious Studies from Macalester College where I minored in French and Anthropology. My senior capstone project is entitled, "Holy Wars at Home: Negotiating Religious Difference in Interreligious Families."
I am looking to combine my interests in religion, politics, and media as an academic and journalistic writer. In pursuit of this goal, I will begin an 11-month M.A. in Journalism and Public Affairs at American University's School of Communication in Fall 2015.
I plan to continue researching religious rhetoric, civil religion, patriotism, politics, and media representations of religion. I hope to do this work while pursuing a Ph.D.
I am also TEFL certified and enjoy tutoring all ages in English as a second language, French, history, religious studies, writing, literature, and many other subjects.
When not pouring over school work or engulfed in a book, I enjoy spending time with friends, engaging in interfaith work, yoga, dancing, crosswords, and pretending to train for my next 5k/10k. I also intermittently post to my book review blog, Sitting in the Stacks.
