Hi,

Thanks for taking a couple of seconds to get to know me. I teach 8th grade Language Arts. I have taught English for the last nineteen years. During this time I have developed a core belief that students are capable of creating incredibly deep, detailed and meaningful works. I feel it is my job and privilege to help my students discover this fact and begin to define themselves and the world around them.

Everyone wants to realize their own significance, my goal is to open ways for my students to do that. In order for this to happen, two chief criteria must be met: The work done must be at a level that causes significant growth in ability and thought, and most importantly, the work must be intrinsically important to the student creating it. In addition to these core criteria, a large (the larger the better), real and receptive audience must be sought for the completion of this conversation (as all writing is).

I have interests that span the whole gamut of the humanities. I write for publication, I blog (I have several including one about secret places in Central Massachusetts going right now), I read and hike and write about hiking. Many of these have spawned clubs in school. Want to start a club? I led a Dungeons and Dragons club a couple of years ago because someone asked me to.... I might just be starting a podcast club this year...Just ask me!

In short, I am very interested in helping my students find themselves in the world around them and learn how to access that world in positive and creative ways. This is why I teach, and I do love my job.
