Dave Marks
University student in Nottingham, United Kingdom
Hey, I’m Dave. I’m a University student living in Nottingham, United Kingdom. Since a young age I have been influenced into the world of horticulture by my grandparents. Days in the garden then have lead me to this point, studying horticulture at Nottingham Trent university at the age of 21.
After being at university for nearly two years now my idea of where I want to be when I graduate has changed and evolved with the more I have experienced and learnt about the subject. More recently after researching into the benefits of public greenspace to mental health, I have been interested in looking into working in this area. Another experience that has steered me towards this path has been volunteering at the Flowerpod in Southwell, this is a charity that works with disabled people to provide a form of horticultural therapy. From the work at the Flowerpod I have seen first hand the benefits gardens and the outdoors can offer people in terms of mental health.
