Dave Burke

Someone once asked me the question, ‘What are you doing when you feel most like Dave Burke’. I had to give him several answers. ‘I’m burrowing ‘round in the Bible with a group of friends working together on what it all means. I’m snuggled up with Cathie talking about this, that, and everything. I’m over the hills and far away binge-running over the northern hills’.

I grew up in Sunderland, studied zoology in Wales and did research in animal behaviour in Hertfordshire. I started out an atheist and ended up a Christian.

In 1997 we moved to the north east of England to work at Bethany Christian Centre in Houghton-le-Spring; seven years later they sent us to plant a new church in Sunderland – Bethany City Church. So here we are!

Jesus said that he had come to give us abundant life. I know this is true, not only because he said so, but because I have found it to be true in my own experience!
