Media professional in the United Kingdom
I'm a writer, editor, event host and manager with over 25 years of experience. You may know me from my regular attendance at Pocket Gamer events or my previous work on SFX magazine.
Today, I am the COO at Steel Media. I work closely with the editorial, marketing and event teams. Our biggest brand is Pocket Gamer, which includes b2b and b2c websites and events. Why not attend our next games industry conference? You can see some photos of previous events on Facebook.
Early in my career, I ran high-profile home computing publications, including the official Microsoft Windows magazine. Then, for many years, I was the editor-in-chief of market-leading entertainment brand SFX. Later on, I oversaw Future's wider entertainment portfolio, including the magazines Total Film, Comic Heroes and Crime Scene.
In addition to Steel Media, I also offer freelance consultancy and content work. For instance, I've helped Dialect promote Amazon tech services to developers and contributed publishing advice to That Media Thing. You'll find my words at places like Crime Fiction Lover and also Total Film and SFX magazines to this day. You can find features I've written about movie and TV filming locations in the beautiful Screen Traveller's Guide, available now from DK Eyewitness.
In my own time, when I'm not travelling or playing games, I write short stories, and you can find some examples in Best Of British Science Fiction 2018 and HG Wells Short Story Anthology: Time. Here's a fun one-page webcomic I wrote for top artist PJ Holden to draw.
