I think for anyone to be successful in using technology, they must first understand their client's business. I have strived in my career to get the same professional understanding and training as the clients I support.
As someone living with a rare genetic disease (who knew), I thought it was time to help educate others who might be going through similar challenges. With help from Emory University, IBM, various rare genetic support groups, several pharmaceutical companies and my company Davalen (davalen.com), we are building an application ThinkGenetic.com to help.
I have been a successful businessman, pilot and professional bowler over my varied career.
I spent 18 years at EDS, a worldwide systems integration public company, in technical development, management and sales in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.
I was the CEO of Data Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of Data General, before founding one of Davalen's predecessors, JSI (jacobsolutionsinc.com) in 1993. I continue as a managing partner.
Earlier in my career, I entered the Naval Flight program and served as the maintenance officer at the US Navy Test Pilot school before my honorable discharge in 1972.
I earned my bachelors degree in Applied Math and Physics from Florida State University.
I have also served on the board of various charities in the past and am active at Home Away Boston (homeawayboston.org), the Social Impact Center in Roxbury (http://rpcsocialimpactctr.org/) and the Presbyterian Church in Sudbury (http://pcsudbury.org).
Currently I live in Sudbury, MA with my wife Kathy and can't help but dote on my five grandsons and one granddaughter.
