Hi there, I work for Nottingham Trent University primarily as a senior lecturer. I have been at the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Science campus since 1999. In that time, I have I have lead a number of educational initiatives and taught my varied subjects. To find out more check out the link to my portfolio above.
Promoting social mobility and the value of developing self advocacy among individuals have been the underpinning foundations throughout my lecturing career. I started my working life down the coal mines, came from a mining family and lived in a mining village; all this taught me the virtues of striving and hard work. My life-wide path taught me that 'it's not where you come from that matters but it is were you are going that is important'.
One of my personal and professional passions is helping others clarify and reach their career goals. I was fortunate to win a funded two year sabbatical to develop a program called Aspire2Be.
In my spare time I am a keen martial artist, air gun enthusiast and field archer. My softer side is for the love of dogs, in particularly Chihuahuas.
Be good … but if you can't, then be good at it.
