I am currently living and working in Birmingham, Alabama for a large commercial General Contractor. My role with my company is a far cry from where I started my career over 20 years ago.

Although, I am not a believer in titles, because everyone should be part of the team, my official title with my company is Project Facilitator.

So what does that fancy title really mean and involve? Well that could be a "loaded question", but the long story short is that I work with a large health care facility here in Birmingham developing and maintaining their BIM program.

Over two years ago I left the architectural design studio environment and plunged head first into the world of BIM Management.

This new adventure required me to emerse myself into a whole different culture, and having to definitely think outside the "box". It made me get out of my comfort zone, and challenge me.

Through this process I have asssited and developed a comprehensive facility BIM Management and Project Protocol manual called Project Redbook.

The Owner is using this manual for their facility management and expansion plans.

So after doing both "board work" (hand drafting) and CAD for over 18 years in a traditional architectural design firm, I took this knowledge and experience have customized Revit to meet the Owner's specific requirements.

This experience includes both, design, construction document production, and construction administration/coordination, and closeouts.

It is also done with nothing but the OOTB (Out of the Box) Revit platform. I am a firm believer in making the program work for you, not you work for the program.

So I hope that you will join me in wanting to become a BIMAHOLIC. My blog Confessions of Real Life BIMAHOLIC is dedicated in educating and providing you with the daily grind of BIM Management. It is a candid and frank look into real life BIM work, with a side of humor.
