Dave Wachter
Pittsburgh, PA
Dave Wachter has been creating comics since childhood, but his career as an adult began in 2004 when he and writer Jim Clark teamed up for their critically acclaimed self published series Scar Tissue. Following that success, they once again collaborated on the epic Western webcomic The Guns of Shadow Valley, which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic and a Harvey Award for Best Online Work.
A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Dave's work has been featured in numerous anthologies, and as a guest artist on the webcomic Mystery Solved. He is the artist on Tell Them Johnny Wadd is Here for Terminal Press, the celebrated adaptation of the notorious John Holmes film. His work for larger comic publishers began in 2010 with Robert Bloch's That Hellbound Train (penned by Joe and John Lansdale), for IDW Publishing. Dave's work as a guest artist can also been seen in their Godzilla series, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In 2012 he teamed with writer Bobby Curnow for the horror fable Night of 1,000 Wolves, also for IDW. That same year brought a nomination for the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award in comics. Dave has more comics projects on the way for 2013, including a return of The Guns of Shadow Valley this Spring.
