David O'Connor
SVP of Global Security at Bain Capital in Boston, Massachusetts
David O’Connor is a corporate security executive with over 20 years of experience. Bringing extensive experience in the United States Secret Service, David is currently the Senior Vice President of Global Security at Bain Capital. Throughout his career with the Secret Service, O’Connor developed security solutions for the protection of foreign and domestic dignitaries, including the President of the United States, the Pope, and the Queen of England.
Prior to Bain Capital, O’Connor served in multiple roles within the Secret Service, including the Assistant Director of the Office of Investigations. As Assistant Director of the Office of Investigations, O’Connor led the development and implementation of policies for all Secret Service criminal investigations involving counterfeit currency and financial and electronic crimes. He also oversaw the Secret Service’s Criminal Investigative Division, Forensic Services Division, and International Programs Division, as well as more than 160 domestic and international offices.
David O’Connor’s prior experience in the Secret Service also includes serving as Assistant Director of the Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Deputy Assistant Director of the Secret Service’s Office of Protective Operations, Special Agent in Charge of the Dignitary Protective Division, and Special Agent in Charge of the Newark, New Jersey field office, among other notable roles.
Outside of his roles within the Secret Service, David O’Connor has been an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) since 2004. The IACP is a professional association for members of law enforcement that works to advance the law enforcement profession through advocacy, outreach, education, and programs. Since 2012, he has been a member of International Security Managers Association (ISMA) and the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC).
O’Connor is a graduate of the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative Graduate at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, the Senior Management Institute for Police’s Executive Education Program at Boston University, and the Senior Executive Training Course through the United States Office of Personnel Management. He holds a B.A. in Government from Norwich University.
