David Castaneda

I am professional Visual Artist from Colombia, specialized in Painting, Sculpture, Illustration and Graphic Design, I also co-author of the book SoulbirdⒸ, with more than 15 years of experience in Fine arts and mixed mediums.

For about 5 years I worked actively with the community, developing artistic demos and exhibitions across Victoria and Tasmania and occasionally in New South Wales, hand by hand with Winsor & Newton and Liquitex as sponsored and Resident Artist, here in Australia.

In 2012, I got my bachelor degree in Visual Arts in Bogotá-Colombia, awarded with an academic scholarship for my artistic skills.

From 2007 to 2012 I worked committed on illustration for children’s books, editorials and comic books, working closely with the creative and design department. Some of his most relevant editorials were for McGraw Hill from New York and Pan Americana Inc. Editorial from Puerto Rico and Balboa press.

Since 2010, I have been actively participating in the visual arts scene in several countries around America, Europe and Australia, receiving notable awards for his work. Some of these was one honourable mention in 2018 at Wyndham Art Prize 2018 from Wyndham VIC, and two honourable mentions in 2010 and 2012 at Galeria Casa Cuadrada from Colombia.

Since my arrival in Australia in 2016, I have enjoyed the opportunity to get involved in the grassroots art scene through my work with the community by volunteering arts classes at community centres in Melbourne, Australia, as well as some art exhibitions, having the honor of being part of the permanent collection of the Peninsula Art Society and also having the honor of donating a artwork to be auctioned at Officeworks - Mentoon with charity proposes.
