David Groll

I am CEO at Circadiance, maker of the innovative respiratory products. I have developed, made and sold medical devices for 25 years. I have held senior positions in several medical device companies. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. I have experience in all aspects of medical devices and company development. I have had the great pleasure of working with some really talented people over the years and have maintained enduring friendships with many of them. I am gratified that I chose the career that I did. Medical Devices lets me make a decent living while helping others.

My wife, Kathy, and I are blessed with three great children ages 20 - 23. It has been a bittersweet pleasure watching them "spread their wings" as they leave home to start their own lives. This new phase of being "empty nesters" has allowed both Kathy and I to pursue some of our other interests. We live in Pittsburgh, a great sports town, so we take in Pirate, Steeler and Penguin games when we can. I played rugby in my younger day and stay involved with the Pittsburgh Rugby Club. I like all kinds of outdoor activities from hiking, hunting and fishing to golf to just working in the yard. My wife and I like to travel and Circadiance has given us the opportunity to do that.

I would rather visit a park than a casino. I would rather watch a game than a play. I consider a vacation to be a time to not do anything, rather than to fill up with yet more activity. I like old scotch and make my own wine. I am Catholic and I am OK with whatever religion works for you. I think the government should not "help" people and should only get involved in the economy when there is a condition of market failure. I love music but can't sing, play an instrument or dance (although that hasn't stopped me from pretending from time to time). I believe real baseball does not have a designated hitter. Livestock can be an appropriate gift. Miracles do happen, fun is where you make it and the world is a great place to be.
