David Hulks
David Hulks is an art historian living in Norwich, Norfolk, UK. He is an associate fellow / associate tutor at the University of East Anglia and research lecturer at the Minories, part of Colchester School of Art. PhD in the History of Art from University of Reading and former Henry Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Sculpture. Positions in colleges, universities and schools of art have included: Goldsmiths College (1994-6), Soundwell College (1997-2000), Winchester School of Art & Design (2002-3), Norwich University College of the Arts (2005-7) and the School of World Art Studies & Museology, UEA (2003-11). Positions in workshops, research centres and galleries have included: the Regional Archive Centre for Norfolk and Suffolk (2006-7), Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (2008-10) and Colchester School of Art (2012-13). Professional membership: National Society for Education through Art & Design (1990-3), Art & Design FE Network (1990-2000), College Arts Association (2004-5), Association of Art Historians (2000-3, 2012-13). Publications include: joint editor with Alex Potts and Jon Wood, The Sculpture Reader (2007). Essays in art education have been included in Critical Studies and Modern Art (1996) and Art & Design Teaching: Issues and Debates (2003). Essays in sculpture theory have appeared in the Sculpture Journal, Journal of Psychoanalytic Studies, and Visual Culture in Britain. David is a frequent contributor to academic conferences, as well as offering public lectures, gallery talks, exhibition reviews and catalogue essays.
