David Minnema

Currently a Business and Information Systems student at Calvin College while working as a Phone Technician for Calvin's IT department. As a phone technician I troubleshoot problems over the phone as well as in person. I also oversee, schedule and help with deploying 1000+ computers around the Calvin campus every summer. Previously within Calvin Information Technology, I was a Technology Integration Specialist pertaining to Mac Management. I worked closely with the Mac Systems administrator to create images, maintain said images, and build packages for site wide installation of software.

As a computer nerd, I'm studying Information Systems to learn all the back end work. I'm especially interested in SQL and databases. I have taken classes dealing the Access databases as well as SQL databases creation and maintenance. I find it very interesting to figure out how front and back end systems work and all the variables that are needed to keep the systems in sync.

I play rhythm and lead guitar for my church, Alive Ministries, as well as run sound and oversee all Technology. I am a huge guitar enthusiast and love creating new sounds using pedals and my computer. I currently play an American Fender Stratocaster through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe tube amp. The combination of this guitar an amp produce such a mellow, bluesy sound. I also play a Martin GPCPA5 and a Seagull Coastline S6. My hope is to build my own electric guitar in the near future. I used to own a Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Thinline that had a sound I am not able to reproduce with my Stratocaster. With building my own guitar I think I can reproduce that sound with a Stratocaster body. It will have a Stratocaster body with two F-holes similar to the Thinline Telecaster.

I also LOVE sports. I am a huge Michigan Football and Basketball fan along with a Detroit Tigers fan. I watch or listen to as many games as I possibly can and keep up with the statistics as much as possible. I also enjoy playing golf with my family and friends. I am an avid biker as well. I really enjoy getting out in nature and riding my road bike.
