David Montalvo

Brooklyn, New York.

I'm just a small town boy covering business and technology stories in New York – until, perhaps, that elusive travel writer gig comes along!

I write and produce segments for CNBC on both Squawk on the Street and Squawk Alley, a new technology hour I helped develop and launch; help lead up our social media efforts; and contribute pieces to CNBC.com.

Here are samples of my work at CNBC.

I've also done some reporting for The Wall Street Journal's personal finance magazine SmartMoney (here is my favorite piece on fantasy camps) and business and economic stories around New York City for Crain's New York Business (these three stories – job market, LeBron James, and WTC mosque – got some national play).

Whether is producing or reporting, I love finding new voices and different angles to stories.

I love scuba diving (open-water certified) – my favorite spot was Iceland, between two continental plates. I prefer a vacation in the mountains than on the beach. And I'm the proud – confused? – owner of a Cocker Spaniel that loves kale stems, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.
