Hello. My name is David Rimmer.
For the last 15 years I've been involved in Marketing and New Business Development with both dynamic entrepreneurial start-up technology services, and with global corporate product organisations. I have worked with and alongside some true technology industry pioneers, including Christopher Curry (founder of Acorn Computer), and worked on partner-building and development programmes for the first cloud-based home monitoring and networking service platform in the UK.
Since moving into a technology start-up, I've been fascinated by the way new innovations and technology products and services can impact peoples’ lives for the better. We are living through a new revolution - the technology revolution - and it is incredible to witness the changes and benefits this is bringing to our social, family and working lives. Who would believe that it's only a handful of years since the iPhone launched, yet walk down every street and see people communicating on the move, downloading music, receiving messages and alerts, using contactless payment, tracking the locations of friends and family. The challenges behind developing and delivering such propositions, and critically the development of sustainable business models to support them, is what I love to do.
I started life as a Product Designer for GEC/GE Appliances, moving up through the ranks via Purchasing and Marketing to ultimately become Group Product Manager for a £100M+ category. I launched new brands and product ranges to market, and grew category share throughout my time in the business.
Having set up as a Consultant, I have for the past couple of years been working as a part-time contract Sales & Marketing specialist for a new Telecare product technology start-up business. I’ve worked with a great team to build Business Plans to secure external VC funding, developed Sales & Marketing and product launch plan, and specified the online service website portal service, UI and customer billing models.
Away from all the corporate and work related fluff, I’m a committed husband and father to two beautiful children. I’m a very bad guitarist – one day I will actually get round to learning more that 6 chords and a C Major scale – and have been a member of a local Archery club. Currently spending lots of time designing project managing and designing an extension for our home!
