David Scassa
Austin, Tx
Dave was born in Washington DC to parents Amb. and Mrs. Eugene L, Scassa. Dave did not stay put very long as his parents traveled across the world visiting locations such as Monterrey Mexico, Mozambique & Zambia Africa, Reykjavik Iceland, Kingston Jamaica, Geneva Switzerland, Jeddah Saudia Arabia, Belize, Central America, and finally back to Virginia (USA).
Dave studied political science at George Mason University for two years, but then decided to follow his parents back to San Antonio Texas where he completed his undergraduate degree from St. Mary's University. Dave then worked for and received his Masters degree (MA International Relations) from St. Mary's University.
While Dave was pursuing his masters degree, he worked for the IT Banking Website division at USAA (United Services Automobile Association) as a Test Engineer, Software Configuration Manager and Build Engineer.
As Dave became more involved in Technology Solutions, he moved to Austin to join Tech Start up movement and in 2001, Dave had filed 3x W2's and 2x 1099's and had worked for 'Journeé Software', 'Liaison Software', and 'Globeset, Inc (now Visa)'.
In 2003, Dave moved his family to Milwaukee Wisconsin to pursue an opportunity in the building automation industry with Johnson Controls. After three years of hard winters and the addition of two children, Dave moved his family back down to the warmer climate of Austin, Tx where he accepted a job as the Release Manager for Callidus Software, Inc. Callidus to this day remains the industry leader in Incentive Compensation automation software (TrueComp). This is where Dave earned his consulting badge by charting barely navigable waters at each on-premise client site. Dave built a tracking database of over 400 patches across 125 highly unique on-premise customer installations. Dave quickly became the official 'escalations manager' for Callidus Software and performed that duty for about two years. Dave then sought a change and found refuge in contracting with then ultimately transitioning to full time work with the State of Texas where he supports a host of law enforcement tier one applications.
An Entrepreneur at heart, Dave remains very active in the local software development community, focusing much of his attention on the Ruby Community. Dave is also involved in movements such as The Rugged Software Movement, (ruggedsoftware.org). Dave also serves on the Texas based LoneStarRuby Foundation
