David Small
Trinidad and Tobago
I have a passion for the energy business having spent virtually all of my professional career immersed in analyzing its ever evolving states and the concomitant impacts from both the public and private sector viewpoints.
The bulk of my career has seen me performing a variety of increasingly complex duties within the context of a State agency charged with overall management and policy development of a burgeoning and nationally-critical energy sector.
Given the significant responsibilities placed upon me at many times during my career, I have learnt that pressure is indeed a causal factor in my ongoing quest to continue to deliver sustained excellence!
As I have within the recent past made the switch into consulting and am now very much a member of the corporate community, my grasp of the energy business has expanded significantly since I now possess a relatively unique view of the business from the two traditionally opposing sides; the State vis-a-vis that of private enterprises.
Most recently, I have been appointed an Independent Senator in the Upper House of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago where I am in a position to opine on macro energy matters that impact my country. This position requires the very best of all of my skills as the issues i will raise have sensitive and national impacts.
As my journey of learning and bringing excellence to enterprises continues, my ability to leverage my range of experiences while at the same time keeping my dataset current and relevant is a challenge that I am very much up for!
