When I was an Assoc. Press U.S. housing columnist, I wrote a story about the incredible volume of waste from housing construction that ended up in landfills. I wrote it because it was of interest to me, and ever since I've had this concern that we generate too much 'stuff', waste too much of it, and don't manage correctly (i.e. recycle) what we do waste.
