David Lichtenstein is an entrepreneur, real estate professional, and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Lightstone Group. A privately held real estate development company based in New York, The Lightstone Group is one of the largest companies of its kind in the United States. Since founding the company in 1988, David Lichtenstein has led it to success in the commercial real estate market, with a focus on retail properties. He pioneered the introduction of the high-end luxury market to malls across the United States, and offers frequent analysis of local and national real estate trends.
In addition to his work in the real estate industry, Mr. Lichtenstein supports companies and organizations pursuing important research in the fields of health and education. As a businessman and philanthropist, he strives to make a positive impact on society. He has invested in BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics, a biotechnology company studying adult stem cell therapies. His investments have helped researchers look for cures for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Lou Gehrig’s disease. David Lichtenstein has also contributed to the creation of strong academic programs that help train students with the necessary skills to work in the life sciences. He sits on the Boards of Directors for Touro College and the New York Medical College, both of which make important contributions to medical research.
Outside of his professional life, David Lichtenstein enjoys gardening and traveling. He has visited more than four dozen countries and speaks six languages. In his travels, he avoids major tourist destinations in favor of seeking out the local people and cultures. He also studies both graphology and the Talmud.
