As a college scholarship basketball player, I have learned that within a game, an athlete can communicate determination, passion, anger, frustration, humor, heart, comradeship, confidence, support and love. As a mass communications major at Lander University, I have realized the entertainment value athletes deliver to spectators as they tell exciting, heartfelt "stories" playing their sport. Basketball, my first passion, has given me many successes and gifts. Now, journalism and broadcasting opens the door to many opportunities. I will take the passion and devotion I have for basketball and translate it to my career.
Being published multiple times and having the opportunity to write for a variety of media formats have given me balanced journalism experience. Broad creative exposure to radio, television, newspaper, photography, blogs, and websites have given me invaluable perspective and the opportunity to confirm my passion for a career in media.
I have learned the work ethic that comes from finding your passion at a young age and working tirelessly to achieve success. I have lived through the stress of a losing season just to turn it around the next season to achieve a record-breaking, winning season. I have the work ethic it takes to be successful and to be an objective, passionate, and creative attribute to your publication. My college basketball is over but the real game of life is ahead of me. I am ready to entertain the rest of the crowd.
