I currently serve as President and Chief Scientist of MetaMoJi Global Research; and President of David A Evans LLC — an independent technology consulting company focusing on natural-language processing, semantic search, and information personalization. I'm also Distinguished Visiting Scholar at MediaX, Stanford University. I was Professor of Linguistics and Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, where I directed the computational linguistics program (1983-1996). More recently, I've been the President, CEO, and Chief Scientist of JustSystems Evans Research, Inc., which I founded as Clairitech Corporation in 1992. Work there led to the ConceptBase technology, the leading enterprise knowledge management software suite in Japan. ConceptBase Search received "Software Product of the Year" in Japan (1998).
