David Bergen Levi
Currently a member of consultancy group Alvarez & Marsal's business consulting division, David Bergen built a strong reputation within the information technology (IT) field across a string of positions, most prominently as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer with Levi Strauss & Co. Bergen accepted responsibility for Levi Strauss' international IT processes in 2000, and ultimately actualized a series of positive renovations. During his eight years with Levi Strauss, David Bergen drafted and invoked an international SAP infrastructure that increased return on investment and service capability. Additionally, he devised a dashboard available to all executives that provided details on merchandise sales and patterns and fostered improved planning and delivery. David Bergen's tenure with Levi Strauss also saw the introduction of goods distribution to large chains including Kmart, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and Target Brands, Inc. Prior to leading the IT department, David Bergen garnered experience through numerous other assignments.
As Senior Vice President and Global CIO of Duty Free Shoppers/LVMH, Inc., for 2 years, David Bergen supervised an international budget of more than $70 million, contributed to a comprehensive cost template reworking, and headed the introduction of Sephora USA, Inc. Before joining LVMH, Inc., David Bergen notably served as Vice President of Global Application Development with The Gap, Inc. In this capacity, he cultivated a variety of browser-based systems, offered his expertise in the integration of Old Navy, and negotiated a budget of more than $75 million. Other achievements in Bergen's professional route include CIO with CarStation.com and Director of Application Development with Esprit. Enthusiastic about sharing IT methodologies as well as employing them, David Bergen shares his knowledge with students and corporate professionals at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business and the Santa Clara School of Business' CIO Leadership program.
