David Bookstaber

A Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based fintech engineer with more than 20 years of experience in data science and quantitative analysis, David Bookstaber began consulting through his firm Boniface LLC in 2017. His most recent work developing alpha models for closed-end funds has led to a partnership for investment management in that space. Previously he worked in a consulting capacity for AQR Capital Management where he developed short-term expected return and market impact models for futures markets. David Bookstaber also worked as both consulting CFO and software engineer for Hashtracking Inc., an early-stage data service company.

Earlier in his career, David Bookstaber was a quantitative analyst at Magnetar Capital. Here, he developed real-time performance and risk monitors for his group's high-frequency stock trading systems. He also designed a research and development system for the implementation of low-frequency quantitative strategies, among other applications. This followed similar work he conducted at Morgan Stanley and earlier businesses.

A military veteran, Mr. Bookstaber served four and a half years in technical leadership positions as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he was promoted to the rank of Captain. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a 3.8 GPA. In addition to his professional endeavors, he is a classically trained pianist and violinist who also enjoys hobbies such as photography, fencing, and home improvement.
