David Bussone

Following his graduation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science degree, David Bussone enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at Boston University, where he received his MBA in Health Care Management cum laude. David Bussone next accepted a position as an Administrative Systems Coordinator for the Hospital Corporation of America (now HCA). After promotions to Assistant Administrator and Associate Administrator, David Bussone was prepared to advance to the position of Chief Executive Officer of two HCA hospitals in Florida. There, he increased the performance, productivity, and profits of numerous hospitals while working for the Hospital Corporation of America. Functioning as an HCA contractor, David Bussone accomplished a $13 million turnaround within a year for the University of Mississippi Medical Center in his role as Associate Director. During this time, he attended Nova Southeastern University part-time in the Doctor of Business Administration program, where he completed all coursework except the dissertation. David Bussone’s success led to more Chief Executive Officer and Director appointments at other health care systems, where he continued making improvements to the bottom line. In recent years, David Bussone has focused his efforts on directing 11 acute care hospitals for Universal Health Services, Inc. In 2009, MedCath Corporation named David Bussone Executive Vice President and President of Operations, with responsibility for the mobile catheterization lab and heart hospital company’s acquisition of acute care hospitals. David Bussone also founded and acted as Chief Executive Officer of Apparo Healthcare, LLC, a consultancy that draws on his experience and expertise in guiding hospitals and health care systems toward greater efficiency and profitability.
