*** Please Go to: goFundMe.com/365mKenya for online support*** My name is David Gillett and after working several years on Wall St, decided it was time to go back to school in advancing my education. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity in Intercultural Studies and was presented with an amazing opportunity by my school through a program called 365m to go to Kenya in 2014 and intern there at Strategic Applications International, while furthering my studies. The program's intent is to let "the world be our classroom" by learning from our cultural context on making sustainable investments in the lives of others. SAI, an NGO (non-governmental organization) based in Washington DC, does extensive work in Kenya. There I will be working on 5 main initiatives: Gender-Based Violence; Follow the Trash Campaign; Clean Water Development; HIV/AIDS Health & Awareness; & Youth Empowerment & Employment. I will travel the country to meet and partner with policymakers, businesses, educational institutions and communities to develop sustainable solutions to better serve their land. Before I even get there however, I need to raise funds to cover tuition, living expenses, room & board and travel. I am raising $25,000 for the duration of my 10-month trip to Kenya. This video and page explains the vision behind my trip and what I hope to accomplish and learn. You can view my personal page below to support my Mission Corps account.
